We offer a range of courses that will meet your needs, whether for business, further studies overseas or travelling. Our language classes are taught by experienced native teachers who are trained on adapting the recent methods and approaches to suit your learning style. This means that you will be able to develop your language skills quickly and effectively.

Currently, classes in the following languages are offered at our Wimbledon branch which is is conveniently located in the centre of Wimbledon, within walking distance from the Underground and Main Line stations.

Below is a listing of some of the language courses we are currently offering. Please note that this list is only meant to give an indication and is by no means exhaustive.

If your language of interest is not included in this list please telephone or simply come along and speak to one of our training advisers, as we are constantly adding new courses to our portfolio.

 

As well as teaching language structure and vocabulary, our courses cover the language skills, i.e. Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing

You will join a class at the right level since our language courses are run at the following levels:

  • Beginners 
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced

 

Evening Classes

Designed to offer flexibility for those who would like to study part time, these courses are held as follows: -

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Frequency: Twice a week (4 hours per week)

Duration: 10 weeks

Beginners Level: Mondays and Wednesday

Intermediate Level: Tuesdays and Thursday

Advanced Level: Mondays and Wednesday 

  

Week-end Classes

Our full range of language classes can also be taken at the weekend.

Weekend Classes: Saturdays

Time: 10:00am - 2:00pm or 2:00pm - 6:pm

Frequency: Once a week (4 hours per week) 
Duration:
10 weeks

Beginners Level: 10:00am - 2:00pm

Intermediate Level: 2:00pm - 6:00pm

Advanced Level: 10:00am - 2:00pm

 

One-to-One Language Training Programme

This is our most intensive language training programme that will enable you to develop your language skills according to your specific needs.

Once you start this course you will be assigned an experienced teacher dedicated to you alone. On your first day the teacher will give you an interview to determine your aims, objectives and expectations. They will then device a tailor made training programme for you, which will ensure that your needs are met exactly.

  

With this course you are able to buy a block of time, which gives you the flexibility to choose the the time and pace of study.

 

Corporate Language Training Programmes

In-Company Group Training

We also provide companies with language training programmes to meet their particular requirements. Training sessions are held either at Access College London or on the clients premises.

Trainees are given a placement test to to asses their level, and a questionnaire will also be given for needs analysis.

Advice and guidance will be provided to all trainees from the first day until the end of their course, and their progress on the course will be regularly monitored.

 

In-Company One-to-One Training
These courses are especially designed for companies whose staff do not possess the same linguistic skills and/or the same needs.

As with the ‘In-Company Group Training’ trainees have the choice of taking the classes either at our training centre or on the clients’ premises.

 

Certification

On completion of our Modern Language Courses, a certificate - stating the language, level, type of course and length of study - will be awarded.

English for Academic Purposes PDF Print E-mail

 

English for Academic Purposes is an English language course for speakers of other languages. The course is designed to bring English skills to a level that will help students be successful in college courses. EAP is designed for students who have some background in English.


The EAP programme will help strengthen your English skills. Students can improve grades, gain better jobs, and earn higher wages. In the United Kingdom especially, bilingual individuals have more opportunities for employment and promotion.


EAP students find that their increased vocabulary and improved pronunciation help them to communicate more clearly and be more effective in their everyday lives.

This semi-intensive course is one of our most popular training programmes, intended for students who would like to develop their English language skills as well as learning basic computer programmes and the Internet.

 

The course covers the following subjects:

 

  • English Language Training - This is Our standard, classroom based General English programme (15 hours a week, Monday to Friday)

 

  • E-learning - Modern, computer based English language training using the most up-to-date methods and technology.

 

  • IT Training - Computer based training towards the widely recognised 'European Computer Driving Licence - ECDL' certification.

    This certification programme includes the following:

    Basic Concepts of Information Technology 
    Using the Computers and Managing Files 
    Word-processing
    Spreadsheets
    Databases and Filing Systems
    Presentation
    Information and Communication.

 

  • Free Internet Access

 

  • Membership to the West Wimbledon College Students Club - the benefits include free special

More than ever, a good knowledge of English is needed to succeed in international business and commerce. If you can show you have relevant language skills, you'll have a great advantage in the jobs market and much greater flexibility if you want to work abroad.

The course is divided into four main modules each lasting approximately one term in the full-time class:

 

  • Business communication 1 (Introduction)
  • Business communication 2 (Face to Face)
  • Business Communication 3 (Telephone)
  • Business Communication 4 (Written and verbal)

 

Full Time: 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 3 hours per day

Time: 9-12, 12-3, 3-6 or 6-9pm

IELTS - International English Language Testing System PDF Print E-mail

 

This course is designed for those who wish to study at a university in the UK or abroad. It covers all aspects of academic reading and writing as well as listening and speaking for students at intermediate level or above. You will be prepared for the IELTS tests through course work and practice tests.

 

A prescribed IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score is now required by many British universities and colleges as a qualification for entry into a formal program. It is a comprehensive test of English language proficiency designed to assess the ability of non-native speakers. It is highly recommended for those need to use English in an Academic or Professional context.

 

We can assist you to register for the exam.

 

Each module of the exam is graded separately as a ‘Band Score’. The module scores are added together to provide an overall Band Score. Band scores range from 1 (non user) to 9 (expert user). Most universities and institutions of higher education will ask for an overall Band Score (generally between 5.5 for undergraduate programs to 6.5 for post-graduate programs).

 

This program thoroughly and systematically prepares the student for all aspects of the IELTS examination – reading, writing, listening and speaking.

 

Other skills covered include:

  • Study Skills;
  • Report and Essay Writing;

Students have regular exam practice sessions using past IELTS papers. They learn IELTS exam techniques and strategies for achieving the best possible result. Students can join this program on any Monday. All students are tested before joining this program.
